Structure and Material Applied in Flexible Aluminum Foil Air Duct
Flexible Aluminum foil air duct is made of Aluminum foil band laminated with polyester film, which is spirally wound around high elastic steel wire. Could be structured with single band or dual bands.
① Single band structure is made of one Aluminum foil band spirally wound around high elastic steel wire. (Figure 1)
② Dual bands structure is made of two Aluminum foil bands spirally wound around high elastic steel wire. (Figure 2)
There are mainly tow kinds of Aluminum foil are used for flexible air duct. One is foil made of Aluminum foil laminated with PET film, and the other is aluminised PET film.
① Aluminum foil laminated with PET film can have tow structures,which are single side Aluminum foil and dual sides Aluminum foil. Single side Aluminum foil means one layer of Aluminum foil laminated with one layer of PET film, AL+PET, the laminated thickness is about 0.023mm. Dual sides Aluminum foil means two layers of Aluminum foil laminated with one layer of PET film between them.
② Aluminised PET film is plating a ultra thin layer of Aluminum on the film by “vacuum aluminzing method”; the thickness of the plating layer about 0.008-0.012mm.
The strength and puncture resistance function of flexible Aluminum air duct from the strongest to less is: dual sides Alu foil air duct, single side Alu foil air duct and Aluminised PET film.
Flexible Aluminum foil air duct usually use highly elastic bead steel wire as its helix. It is not easily to collapse when under pressure; so it can keep an effective ventilation. The bead wire is plated with copper or zinc as anti-corrosion treatment. The wire diameter is 0.96-1.2mm, and the pitch of wire helix is 26-36mm.
The composite glue used in aluminum foil is cured glue or self-adhesive.
① Cored glue: the glue gets solidified after composition and the adhered material is not easy to open.
② Self-adhesive: the glue will not become solidified after composition and the adhered material can be peeled by hand.
The flexible Aluminum foil air duct using cored glue, has higher tensile strength, and the pipe body is slightly stiffer.
Aluminum foil air duct using self-adhesive, has lower tensile strength, and the pipe body is soft.
